Oct 12, 2021
Closing Day Four, the AK-OK collection exuded a fashionable energy and versatility that was combined with creative dexterity for contemporary fashion with a timeless quality.

The AK-OK label by Anamika Khanna presented by NEXA at the FDCI x Lakmé Fashion Week was all about freedom from norms and garments that were free spirited and unique.

“I feel like there is a different kind of energy when it comes to AK-OK and it’s a new avenue for me to do things differently, entering spaces I have always wanted to my entire life, and create things without any limitations. Much like the brand identity of Nexa, we wanted to bring together a collection that was modern, easy, luxurious yet experimental while altogether remaining elegant. The collection starts with whites, blacks and adda on metallic and then blends with a myriad of colours. The collection merges with the wearers personality and each piece is versatile enough to go from day to night.” said Anamika Khanna about her collection.

Mr Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki commented “At NEXA, our aim to provide our customers with inspiring moments has led us to create experiences that are beyond just automobiles. Each season that we have joined hands with Lakme Fashion Week has been enriching and rewarding. This season at LFW x FDCI, we’ve partnered with the renowned fashion designer, Anamika Khanna, who has created a niche for herself by challenging the status quo and doing unique and innovative things, just like we at NEXA strive to do. This was evident from the collection she showcased for this year’s NEXA show, filled with designs that were edgy and experimentative while using a color palette which symbolizes energy, freedom and versatility. And it was taken a notch higher with the unique and out of the box integration with our NEXA model, Ciaz during the show”.

It was a line that could move effortlessly from dawn to dusk with the minimum of effort and dress the buyer in the most eye-catching attire. Opting for silhouettes that spelt pure comfort with fluidity being the key element, Anamika worked around the neutral hues of white and black and then onto blue, khaki with hints of metallic touches and then finally exploded the colour story into myriad hues. The interesting aspect of each ensemble was its special offering in fabrics. The choice stayed true to luxury as silk, crepe and chiffon brought that great feeling of freedom and movement.

Starting the show with an all-white collection with hints of black for low crotch pants, maxis, flared skirts, distressed pants, belted tunics, poncho blouse, capris, shirts and robes the colour story exploded gradually till it ended in a multi-coloured fantasy for men and women’s wear. Strappy sundress was knotted at the hemline, while comfy shirt style kaftans, one-shouldered togas, asymmetric tunics and a gold metallic lehenga, poncho with inner brought variety to the collection. There were more choices when a tiered skirt maxi, lungi with printed kimono and black inner continued to create a wonderland of fashion and style.

Men’s wear followed the comfort theme as sheer kurtas, lungis, printed shirt/trouser duo, belted soft jackets asymmetric kurtas and abstract printed suits; offered the stylish dresser unconventional choices. 3D appliqués floated around the ensembles, while a hint of shredding and distressed treatments brought an Avant Garde look to the forefront.

Bringing the show to a close was Bollywood beauty Shraddha Kapoor who looked dramatic as she emerged from the NEXA model, Ciaz wearing a black mini skirt with cropped blouse, embellished with strands of 3D appliqués as they swirled around her, while a silver body harness added glitter to the ensemble.

When it is an impressive, unconventional, fashion statement that the trendsetters want to make then the AK-OK brand by Anamika Khanna will be right on the top of the style charts. The very exuberant and vital AK-OK collection by Anamika Khanna presented by NEXA was all about fashion without limitations but with large doses of energy and style.
